I tend to be a lot more paranoid now that I have kids. I remember in my pre-kid life leaving out a huge pot of chili overnight and then freezing it and eating it. You really needn't have thrown...Tragic indeed! You really needn't have thrown it out. Many places leave the food overnight anyway to cool, and then refrigerate in the morning. This is actually a very common practice in the UK, and in France.
